The melting capacity is almost equal for Borum preheaters with indirect heating (ID) and preheaters with direct heating (D) when looking at a full workday.
As an average, 2 units of Borum preheaters with indirect heating BM ID-1100 with a capacity of 1100 L each (2 x 1100 = 2200 L in total) can melt and prepare 1000 kg of thermoplastic (for extrusion) per hour. This means that they can melt 10000 kg on a 10-hour working day.
The maintenance and handling of the preheaters are vital for the melting capacity. We have seen road marking teams which within a week managed to triple the melting capacity for their new preheaters.
