The 2-component application material is a great solution for ensuring reliable line marking during dense traffic or in shifting weather conditions. With 2-component material, you get a wear resistant road marking material with good visibility, durability, and low dirt pick up.

Based on your requirement, Borum can supply you with different 2-component application equipment that can set execute both flat and profiled markings. Therefore, this type of equipment can meet the requirements of any kind of surface or road.

Read more below or go to this page for more information about how the 2-component equipment works.

2 - component cold plastic spray (98:2)
Atomizing air

Line types: Flat lines (continuous and interrupted lines)

Equipment: Kamber gun

  • Low-pressure system using paint guns with atomizing air
  • Maximum paint pressure is up to 10 bar
  • The LineMaster computer can activate an alarm when hardener does not flow during marking work
  • The LineMaster computer can activate an alarm when there is a break in the marking works (which is longer than set in the computer)
  • Possibility to apply line widths of up to 20 cm with one gun depending on work conditions, application speed, and layer thickness. The machine can be supplied with one or two spray guns.
  • Working speed can be up to 10 km/h depending on the conditions, e.g. material, line type, and operator experience
  • The cleaning process is an automated preset sequence ensuring the correct valves are opening/closing. The system is activated via the Borum LineMaster computer.
  • For all Borum spray machines, the equipment is mounted on a sliding retainer frame as standard that allows you to quickly slide the equipment from one side to another
  • The sliding retainer frame can be used for all Borum 2-component equipment, which makes switching equipment easy and quick.
  • Optional: Depending on the configuration, the system can handle working with both 2-component cold plastic and cold paint

2 - component cold plastic spray (98:2)
Airless spray

Line types: Flat lines (continuous and interrupted lines)

Equipment: Kamber guns, a large selection of nozzles

  • Double-action piston pump with two pistons for the paint and one piston for the hardener. The 3 pistons are driven by a common hydraulic motor in order to secure the right relation between paint and hardener. A static mixer is mounted close to the paint guns.
  • Efficient pump with less wear and tear than other product available on the market. The pump has a sensor for registration of the paint flow. The pump capacity is up to 45 L/min (12 gal/ min).
  • The LineMaster computer can activate an alarm when hardener does not flow during marking work
  • The LineMaster computer can activate an alarm when there is a break in the marking works (which is longer than set in the computer)
  • Pulsation damper in the hydraulic oil circuit, which helps minimize piston pulsations
  • High-pressure paint filter
  • Possibility to apply line widths of 25 cm with standard nozzle depending on the nozzle choice, line thickness, work conditions, application speed, and layer thickness.
  • Working speed can be up to 15 km/h depending on the conditions, e.g. material, line type, and operator experience.
  • The cleaning process is an automated preset sequence ensuring the correct valves are opening/closing. The system is activated via the Borum LineMaster computer.
  • Optional: Depending on the configuration, the system can handle working with both 2-component cold plastic and cold paint

2 component cold plastic extruder 98:2

Line types: Flat and profiled lines (continuous and interrupted lines), ribs

  • The equipment for 2-component extrusion consists of a pump unit for the paint and hardener, that ensures the 98:2 ratio, a mixer for blending the paint and the hardener, and pressure valves for controlling the flow.
  • There is one extruder head for each specific line width. Available sizes are 10, 12, 15, 17, 20, 22, 24, 25, 30 cm
  • Quick connectors to the mixer and to the lifting cylinder for quick and easy exchange of head
  • Alarm from the LineMaster when hardener does not flow during marking work
  • Alarm when there is a break in the marking works, which is longer than set in the LineMaster.
  • Line thickness usually around 1-3 mm (ribs/profiles can be up to 10 mm, depending on material)
  • Recommended material viscosity for flat line extrusion is > 6500 cp and for ribs > 8500 cp.
  • Usual marking speed is between 2 - 6 km/h depending on the conditions, e.g. material, line type and operator experience
  • The cleaning process is an automated preset sequence ensuring the correct valves are opening/closing. The system is activated via the Borum LineMaster computer.
  • The sliding retainer frame can be used for all Borum 2-component equipment, which makes switching equipment easy and quick.

2-component dot equipment (98:2)

Line types: Profiled dots

Equipment: The unit consists of a basic unit with 6 dots in a row.

  • It is possible to add additional rows one by one until you obtain the wanted line width.
    It’s like lego building blocks!
  • The LineMaster computer can activate an alarm when hardener does not flow during marking work
  • The LineMaster computer can activate an alarm when there is a break in the marking works (which is longer than set in the computer)
  • Quantity dots/m 15-20. Number of DOT per meter (length-wise) is controlled in the LineMaster computer.
  • Dot thickness is usually around 3-4 mm
  • Possibility to apply line widths between 10-30 cm
  • Recommended paint viscosity is higher than 8500 cp
  • Usual marking speed is between 4 - 5 km/h depending on the conditions, e.g. material, line type, and operator experience

2 component agglomerate equipment

Line types: Agglomerate markings

Equipment: The agglomerate equipment (a spike roller) is mounted under the 2-component extruder, which is slightly wider than the roller (flex shutters).

  • The agglomerate equipment only works together with the 2-component extruder
  • The roller is hydraulically driven and the rpm is controlled by the LineMaster.
  • The system shall be capable of handling both paint and solvent, switching between the materials.
  • The LineMaster computer can activate an alarm when hardener does not flow during marking work
  • The LineMaster computer can activate an alarm when there is a break in the marking works (which is longer than set in the computer)
  • Possibility to apply line widths between 10-30 cm.
  • Line thickness is up to 4 mm.
  • Usual working speed when doing agglomerate lines is 4-5 km/h depending on the conditions, e.g. material, line type, and operator experience
  • Recommended paint viscosity is above 8000 cp.
  • Cleaning of the system is done via the Borum LineMaster computer on the machine
  • For all Borum spray machines, the equipment is mounted on a sliding retainer frame as standard that allows you to quickly slide the equipment from one side to another
  • The sliding retainer frame can be used for all Borum 2-component equipment, which makes switching equipment easy and quick.
